187 guests' feedbackThe road to the cottages is terribly steep and dangerous for older people. The mattress was terrible. We had to put the pillows in the cavities to sleep more comfortably. The mattress must be very old. The bathroom sink has cracks in it everywhere that appear very dirty. In the guest book are several guests with the same complaints, especially about the mattress. The whole place needs an upgrade.
Very good overnight stay. All that bothers is the steep path to the houses. Stairs might be better.

We had a nice stay at Stemar's purple apartment. The place is more beautiful than in the photos. Quiet area. Very neat and clean. We also had a good barbecue. Everything you need is there. Neat garden too. I would only recommend a curtain at the sliding doors so the room doesn't get light so early. Other than that, everything is 100%.

Friendly host and hostess. Only sorry about the bar fridge in the apartment. Would have appreciated a fridge with a larger freezer section. Couldn't freeze my icebricks for the next day's trip.

The small room met all our needs, and can be recommended. We slept well, despite the big motorcycle rally that weekend (lucky us!), with its accompanying noise! The steep ramp from the parking area to the room is inconvenient for people with knee problems, and may, if wet, be dangerous. The WiFi was very slow, to such an extent, that it was unusable. Apart from these two mentioned points, the stay was truly ideal!

We had a lovely stay at Stemar. They allowed us to bring our dogs and that was highly appreciated. The unit was well equipped and comfortable. The hosts were so friendly and courteous.

It is just a plain, single layer foam mattress and we did not have a good night's sleep. They will have to look at upgrading the mattress. Overall a very neat and quiet unit.

Very friendly, quiet, clean and safe. The room is much smaller than it looks in the online photos, but not a problem for us as we were only there for one night! Perfect for overnight stays.
There was a water problem in the town and they gave us drinking water and a bucket of water for the toilet. The water was back on later that evening. The dogs were welcome and the accommodation was clean and neat.

It's a very simple accommodation whose unit was very clean and tidy. Due to water shortage in the area (low rainfall), the industry is struggling with water. Personally, I might have just replaced the bulbs by the master bed with bulbs that aren't as bright.

We spent three nights at Stemar in the self-catering unit. The unit is basic and might be a bit cramped for a family, but the bed was comfy and you can sit outside under an awning. Stephan and Mariet were friendly and very helpful.

The photo is the hostess's front door and porch, but guests stay behind and have to drag everything up a very steep slope to a security gate. Very safe accommodation and parking but accommodation very dark with old furniture without the nice coffee and milk in the fridge that we are used to. There was Cremora and Frisco coffee or something like that.

I was fortunate that the owners allowed me to check in early and the initial problem with the TV was immediately taken care of. There is small fridge, 2 plate stove, kettle and microwave so suitable for self-catering. The cottage was clean and the shower was piping hot. Overall it was a satisfactory experience. However, I must mention that the rooms are really small. In a town where there are many houses to rent with airy rooms and lounges and gardens, I would probably choose one of them on a next visit. Still, hospitable hosts and attentive service made the stay worthwhile.

We stayed here for 2 days and as we were newly weds on our honeymoon, Stephan, the lady and their daughter went out of their way to make us feel at home. Whether it was moving the braai during a thunderstorm, great advice about activities, or a bottle of champagne as a surprise - they made the stay amazing. Thanks so much.

I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the unit, the shower is large and I had a great shower. The kitchen utensils are of very good quality and the room is quite spacious. I would definitely recommend the place as it is close to everything and we felt very safe with our car under roof under lock and key. We stayed in a guest house in Gariep and Bloemfontein and Stemar Self Catering was the cheapest, the best and deserves more than just two stars. Well done and keep it up.
Very neat. Bed just a little hard. There is a severe, steep ramp that you have to walk up to get to units. It's bad for my husband who had back surgery.

Stemar's price is VERY reasonable, with everything you need for a one-night stay. The room was very small, but painfully neat and spotless. The parking under a canopy and with a remote controlled gate was a plus. I wish there were more such overnight facilities in places where one usually only travels through and does not necessarily want to stay for more than one night.

I stayed for 5 nights. I feel like I got value for money, but there are little things that would have made the stay easier, like a TV bigger than a matchbox that was mounted too high to see anything. A hair dryer was also absent and the kitchen faucet is faulty even after I reported it to the owner.
